EI/NRCCE Analytical Laboratory receives certification from WV Department of Environmental Protection

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Researchers throughout the region who must use certified laboratories for sample analyses now may bring their samples to the Analytical Laboratory of the West Virginia University Energy Institute/National Research Center for Coal and Energy on the Evansdale campus. Gabriela Perhinschi, the lab’s manager, announced today that the lab passed the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection certification process for analyses of non-potable-water inorganic nonmetals and trace metals.

“West Virginia DEP requires researchers to use only certified labs,” said Perhinschi. “Until today, WVU researchers had to send their samples off-campus to private, certified analytical laboratories. Now that we are DEP-certified, researchers can bring their samples to us. We can help researchers at other organizations, too.”
