Register now for the 2017 BAD Buildings Summit, Nov. 14

At the BAD Buildings Summit, learn how to rehabilitate Brownfields, Abandoned, and Dilapidated (BAD) Buildings in your community by networking with other leaders across the state dealing with the same challenges.

Participants will see presentations by resource providers, practitioners, and technical experts on topics including demolition, codes and ordinances, funding, resources, engaging stakeholders, and sustainable reuse options for vacant properties.

Brownfields program part of WVU initiatives receiving $500K in grants from Benedum Foundation

The grants will benefit various programs and initiatives at WVU and across the state including

Northern West Virginia Brownfields Assistance Center – $100,000 – Funding to the Strategic Teardown of Properties Brownfields, Abandoned, Dilapidated Buildings 2.0 initiative will leverage the work completed by BAD Buildings communities in the first phase of the project. A new Demolition Grant Fund will be used to demolish designated BAD Buildings properties in communities statewide.

WRI introduces Boy Scouts to environmental sciences at National Jamboree

This week the West Virginia Water Research Institute will roll out an exciting new program as part of the 2017 National Scout Jamboree held at the Boy Scouts of America’s Summit Bechtel Reserve near Mount Hope, WV. The Jamboree takes place July 19-28.

The West Virginia Outdoor Learning Lab will introduce scouts to the world of environmental science, technology, engineering and math (E-STEM).  The lab will include a series of fun hands-on outdoor activities centered on the BSA. 

NAFTC exhibiting and offering free trainings at NACE Automechanika July 27-29

Morgantown, W.Va. -- Representatives from the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium will be at NACE Automechanika Chicago July 26-29 to showcase NAFTC products and services, including the Hybrid Electric Vehicle Training Educator – which was recently converted to run on propane autogas in addition to electricity and gasoline.

Al so, the NAFTC will hold training classes on the importance of AFV safety training, propane autogas vehicles, and electric drive vehicles during the event.
